Gilchrists have been trading for over 40 years and are based close to Belfast City Centre. The Company was first formed as industrial engravers serving the factories of Industrial Belfast and companies across Northern Ireland. Shipbuilding, aircraft manufacturing, foundries and the textile industry all had a demand for high quality accurate engraving.
As a machine engraver, a four-year apprenticeship would be served in order to prepare you for the different types of work that would be required. As a tradesman these skills would also be used to manufacture traditional brass plaques, business nameplates and many other types of engraved signs to a high standard.
Over the years we have observed the sign industry change dramatically with the arrival of computerized machinery and user-friendly materials. We have moved with these advances, but as a company of tradesmen our approach to manufacturing would be to maintain accuracy and quality, and to ensure that the materials used are suitable for the job.
Gilchrists have always been associated with quality and can offer the best advice and design available.
We would be the only sign company in Northern Ireland still using the old industrial engraving machines along with the latest computerized engraving machines, CNC routers and laser engraving machines.
It does not matter to us whether you want a staff name badge, door nameplate, commemorative plaque, a traditional cast sign or individual cut-out letters for an up market building, we have the machinery and skills to produce them.
